This is Where the Tree From Which the Cross was Made Once Grew
Collaborative project and Duo Exhibition with Maayan Boni during the residency program in ‘Hacubia’, Jerusalem, 2018.
Exprimental project set out to explore the nature of the relationship between narrative and picture. The paintings were made after oral narratives that Maayan Boni passed to me by researching the Vally of the Cross neighborhood, its dwellers (present, past and myth), collecting stories, narratives, experiences and imaginings (both hers and theirs). Inspired by “Ex-voto” paintings, I played with the fine line between illustration, representation and interpretation. The paintings were site- specific, using the dimensions of the exhibition space, in reference to medieval frescoes.
