when Nothing Happens
This series of works, which observes the everyday, was made over a period of three years, between 2015-2017. The paintings depict seemingly banal everyday moments that are often overlooked. As a woman and an immigrant the notions of home and home-making are central to my artistic practice, which often reflects my personal experience of consciously stopping to capture moments of mundanity. Through the medium of painting I explore the unavoidable tension between raw reality and its romanticized and subliminal representation and interpretation.
